St. George’s Basilica located un the St. George square is the oldest surviving church building within Prague Castle. The basilica was founded by king Vratislaus I in 920. The basilica was enlarged 53 years later with the addition of the St. George’s Abbey. After a big fire in 1142, the basilica was rebuilt.
The Baroque façade comes from the 17th century. The building now houses a Bohemian Art Collection and serves as a concert hall.
